Glen Lyon, Scotland. Roro Estate overlooks the magnificent and pastoral Glen Lyon, the longest Glen in Scotland. Sleeps 12

Roro Estate overlooks the magnificent and pastoral Glen Lyon, the longest Glen in Scotland.  The 5,000 acre working farm is surrounded by ruggedly beautiful mountains edged with the last remaining Caledonian Forest.  The hillsides are painted with heather and yellow gorse.

The river Lyon, a tributary of the nearby River Tay, famous for its salmon fishing, flows along the northern end of the property below the house.  A rushing watergall dramatizes the view on the southern side of the house, springing from the burn that originates on the property.  There is a natural swimming pool below the rocks under a waterfall.

An early 18th century house in elegant Baroque style, set in quiet lawns and terraced gardens.  The house was built for the Baring family, prominent merchants and founders of the bank of the same name.  It is still a family home, and has a pleasant, relaxed feel about it that perfectly suits its quiet, riverside location in rolling Oxfordshire countryside.

Ardington is a beautifully symmetrical house with unusually fine brickwork. The entrance is dominated by the Imperial Staircase - two flights of stairs coming back into one.  These are very rare and the Ardington Staircase is an exceptional example.  The hall and dining room have original panelling.  Cornices and woodwork in the hall are perfect examples and the dining room has a fine plaster-work ceiling.
