The House:
Set in 3 acres of glorious gardens, with stunning views over the city and the Bay of Tangier, the house is built on two floors with a series of lawns and terraces leading down to the pool area.
Ground Floor:
Main Reception Room (8.6m x 7 x 7m): This is a large airy room with plenty of comfortable seating, a working fireplace and an iPod docking/speakers. A glazed veranda runs the length of one side of the room, and traditional Moroccan arches lead into a study/library, bar, cloakroom and sitting room.
- Study: Small writing room/library well stocked with books, maps, guide books, phone/fax, and a Wi-Fi laptop. There is also a comprehensive local information file compiled by the owner which tells you everything you need to know about the house and Tangier.
- Sitting Room: Satellite TV and DVD player, fireplace and bar with mini fridge
- Dining Room: Seats 12 comfortably, French windows open onto a terrace making it ideal for summer meals.
- Kitchen: well equipped and conveniently placed behind main reception and dining rooms.
- Cloakroom: Toilet and shower.
Upstairs: All the bedrooms are at the front of the house giving panoramic views across the beautiful garden to the Bay of Tangier.
- Bedroom 1: (4.4 x4.1m) A double bedded room with its own balcony, and bathroom en-suite, and access to the verandah which is shared with Bedroom 2.
- Bedroom 2: (5.4 x4.3m) Similar good-sized room with twin beds, en suite bathroom and plenty of hanging/storage space.
- Bedroom 3: (4.1 x 3.7m) Double bedroom with king sized bed, en suite bathroom and verandah shared with bedrooms 4 and 5.
- Bedroom 4: (4.5 x3.5m) Twin bedded room leading into Bedroom 5.
- Bedroom 5: (2.7 x3.3m) A large single bed with a shower/toilet en-suite.
Note: Bedrooms 1, 2, 3 and 4 all have good hanging space and drawers. There is no separate access to bedroom 5; therefore bedrooms 4 & 5 are ideal for parents with children.
The Garden & Swimming Pool: The terraces, lawns and beds are planted with exotically scented Mediterranean plants and trees. They are fed by 3 natural springs which keep the garden green and cool even in the hottest months.
Midway between the house and the pool there is a terrace with a large table and a custom built barbeque. The pool, (12 x 6m) is at the bottom of the garden. The pool house has two changing/storage areas, a kitchen a telephone, a loo, a shower and plenty of lounger/deck chairs. There is a second BBQ at the pool house and plenty of tables and chairs for up to 20 people to eat in comfort.
Staff: The house is looked after by Abdul-Latif and his family. They live in an adjoining house. Abdul-Latif speaks good English and is exceptionally helpful – he will do the shopping, wait at table and act as your guide/interpreter/chauffeur as required. He does not speak French. His sister Rubbha is an excellent Moroccan cook who has learnt to turn her hand to European tastes whenever asked. Abdul Latif’s wife, Fatimah, cleans the house, makes the beds and does the washing and ironing. If you have children Abdul Latif and Fatimah will be very happy to babysit when you go out.
There is a 9 seater Hyundai car in which Abdul Latif will meet you when you arrive in Tangier. There is a compulsory charge per week for the use of the car - payable to Abdul- Latif at the time of your visit. This charge is negotiable if you stay longer than 3 weeks. The car is fully insured for anyone to drive providing you have a current driving licence, although of course Abdul-Latif will be happy to drive you wherever you want to go if you prefer.
Electricity, water and the servants' wages are included in the rent.
Besides the landline for incoming calls, there is a pay-as-you-go portable Moroccan phone for your outgoing calls.
There is a cottage which is next door to Dar Sinclair. If you intend to be a large party, this cottage makes a good annex; It is very simple, but has three good sized double bed rooms. It has a charming patio and terrace, and a lovely view. *price on application.

Local Area
The Beaches
The beaches are a big attraction in Tangier with people enjoying camel rides, windsurfing, acrobatics and football. The beaches here have a number of beach bars that are only open in the summer. Most of them offer showers, deck chairs, food and drink and provide cabarets at night.
Place de France
Place de France is a small French-looking square right in the middle of the Ville Nouvelle with many friendly, inviting street cafés.
The Grand Socco
Visit the Grand Socco Market Square with its good street cafés and absorb the city life. The market sells everything including arts and crafts, fruit and vegetables and plain old junk.
The Mendoubia Gardens
Enjoy the inviting shade that surrounds the Grand Socco Square in the midsummer afternoons. This garden contains a fascinating banyan tree that's over 800 years old.
The Caves of Hercules
The Caves of Hercules are situated 14km west of Tangier in the Cap Spartel area. It is a place of great beauty and archeological significance.
