The owner's private  estate overlooks the magnificent and pastoral Glen Lyon, the longest Glen in Scotland.  The 5,000 acre working farm is surrounded by ruggedly beautiful mountains edged with the last remaining Caledonian Forest.  The hillsides are painted with heather and yellow gorse.

The river Lyon, a tributary of the nearby River Tay, famous for its salmon fishing, flows along the northern end of the property below the house.  A rushing watergall dramatizes the view on the southern side of the house, springing from the burn that originates on the property.  There is a natural swimming pool below the rocks under a waterfall.

Property Detail

  • The house is centered on a courtyard planted with a vegetable and herb garden. Roses and wisteria climb the walls. The ambience is comfortable and cosy - paintings, photographs and drawings adorn the walls and family photographs add to the flavour of a home.
  • The house has 8 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms and is comfortable for 12 people.  All bedrooms are upstairs, each with a superb view. Bath tubs are equipped with shower sprays and a separate shower room provides an alternative to luxuriating in the bath.
  • A cosy sitting room is located off the entry.
  • A kitchen with central island is equipped with an Aga for high quality cooking plus a second electric oven and hob. Two dishwashers service a large party. A separate pantry and ironing area adjoin the kitchen. The cooking area is adjacent to a family style dining table.
  • Beyond is a comfortable sofa and chairs for sitting in front of the fire place or watching Sky satellite television.  The windows in this area look out onto views of the waterfall.
  • A formal dining room opens through French doors onto the central courtyard and its herb garden.
  • A separate television room, office (with WiFi connection), laundry room and powder room complete the central downstairs level.
  • The house in centrally heated and has open log fires.
  • Entered from outside is The Barn, an old stone building which houses a ping pong table, darts, and mini football. A large trampoline is located on the lawn beyond. A fully equipped bicycle storage room is beside the entrance to the house. Croquet can be played on the lawn. A raised vegetable garden supplements vegetable needs


Local Area

A small loch on the estate can be floated on a canoe or fished for trout.  Wild deer and grouse are abundant and can be hunted in season.  Pheasant shooting is available nearby.  Sheep and Highland cattle graze the hills.  An ancient Highland rock wall cuts across the high slopes and old stone shielings can be found on the property.  Hiking trails lead across the Glen to a plateau on the other side of the mountain, which connect to trails to the west coast.

There are water sports to be had on Loch Tay (15m) and Loch Earn (20m) or go white water rafting on the Tay.  For walkers and climbers, there are a number of Munros in the immediate area. Fishing for trout and salmon and stalking in season can also be arranged by the Estate.  Play golf at Pitlochry or Aberfeldy, or even Gleneagles itself - 45 mins away.
