The Bearn is situated in south west France on the edge of the Basque Country. It is lovely rolling countryside with the Pyrenees as a backdrop.

The house stands in its own grounds in a little hamlet near a charming historic town called Sauveterre de Bearn, 45 minutes from Biarritz and the Atlantic coast. It is also very near the Pyrenees where one can go for lovely walks in the summer and skiing in the winter.

Property Detail

The property comprises the house, an 8m x 4m swimming pool, a garage and a garden/orchard backed by the Gave des Saisons (mountain torrent). The house faces south and you can see the mountain range. It is an 18th century farmhouse with a little 'grandeur' and original features. It was totally restored in 1990.

Ground Floor

  • A large sitting room (approx. 9m x 4.5m) with a farmhouse fireplace, banquette, television and dining area.
  • A bedroom/library (approx. 4m x 4.5m) with a single bed; the room through a French door leads onto the swimming pool/terrace area.
  • A well-equipped modern kitchen with gas and electric cooking facilities.
  • A shower/pantry room with toilet, basin, washing machine and deep freeze.

First Floor

  • A big landing at the top of the stairs.
  • Master double bedroom (approx. 5m x 4.5m)
  • Twin bedded second bedroom (approx. 4m x 4.5m)
  • Third bedroom (approx. 3m x 3m) with a large single bed.
  • A bathroom with loo, basin and bidet.
